ok try going to start run regedit and looking here HKey_Local_ Machine\ Software\Microsoft\Windows
see if there are entries refering to BITS & WUAUSERV
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsWhen trying to start the BITS service manually, I get this message:
"Could not start the Background Intelligent Transfer Service service on Local Computer.
Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified."
After researching this error, I found that the ImpagePath in the Registry is the source of the error, because of malware/virus that may have changed the path from "%SystemRoot%".... to "%fystemRoot%"...
I have tried many times to edit this path in Regedit to make it correct, like others have done successfully. Only everytime I try to make the change and Okay it, I get this message box:
"Cannot edit ImagePath: Error writing the value's new contents."
I am logged in as Administrator, so I can't believe it's a permissions issue. Any help with this topic would be much appreciated!
