Question

Where to get sata driver for A205-S5804

Asked by: shakoush2001

Hi
I am trying to install XP on my Toshiba Satellite A205-S5804 laptop. However, it says no disk drives found. In short I need to add the driver using F6, that is the easy part.

I need to find the sata drivers for this particular model.

That is all I need !!! Just a link to the sata drivers.

Thanks

Your best bet is to get a USB floppy (very cheap money). Extract the files to it and simply point to it at the right time. I believe this is the driver you are looking for. Straight from the Toshiba Europe site.

The above link is for the Intel Matrix Storage Manager for your model pc for XP Pro.

You know none of you have any idea....

#1 A205 is a US model
#2 all the drivers are wrong

Hey there...

Unfortunately Toshiba US are about as usefull as a fart in a space suit when it comes to providing legacy drivers for their systems. I am an EX Toshiba AUS Employee. The only place you will find the drivers you need for your system is through the Intel website directly. You would need to know what the sata controller is though on the A205 can be either ICH7 or ICH8 depending on the SKU and Revision of the motherboard installed within your system.

I would suggest looking into your BIOS on the later revision A205/200 systems there was a HDC compatibilty mode. Look for "sata mode" or something along those lines. it will usually be set to AHCI if your system shipped with windows VISTA reset it to SATA which will allow you to install windows XP without slipstreaming or using a floppy with the driver...

If you have any problems POST back.

@Kavostylin

You know, everyone here tries to help when they can, as they can. Your comment, "You know none of you have any idea...," is on the face of it rude, and more importantly, a slap in the face of everyone here who tries to help.

In the future, if you disagree with a comment made by an expert, I would suggest you tone it down and be respectful of others. I don't care where you worked, or what your personal feelings are, but i know I would never tell another expert that they didn't have any idea what they were talking about.

Get over yourself.... your ignorance is showing.
