Hi. Yesterday I tried installing a new toolbar of the type that mounts to the Win XP taskbar, and subsequently uninstalled it. In the aftermath, the taskbar itself has changed. It's thicker than normal. Not double-height -- it's not because it has expanded to two rows or anything. (It has expanded enough for the day of the week to appear below the time of day, but not enough to also show the year.) Notably, the icons that appear in the taskbar are all much lower resolution. They are larger than normal and also more pixelated. The overall effect is quite ugly and less efficient to use.
The taskbar is not locked.
The Windows desktop has not been affected by the reduced resolution of the taskbar; it is still 1024 x 600, which is the maximum available from my netbook.
I came upon a post by a person with a similar problem which I have pasted below. I tried to follow the advice that worked for them, but I am running Win XP, and apparently the instructions were intended for Win ME, as the tab referenced did not exist in my interface.
What should I do?

Thanks, but no, DPI was already set to 96. When you think about it, if that setting had inadvertently been altered, it would have affected the entire desktop, which -- as I mentioned -- was not the case.
Since I couldn't find a way to target this particular snafu, I wound up just doing a system restore to the day before I installed the offending taskbar toolbar. At least that worked.

Right click on the desktop -> Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> and check that DPI is still 96 DPI. If not, set it back to 96 DPI and see what happens. ... Thinkpads_User
