Question

BSOD probably caused by iastor.sys

Asked by: 071171

Have a customer with a Dell Precision Wkstn.  It blue screens every week or so.  When I put the minidump through the WinDebug, it says it's probably caused by iastor.sys.  I have updated the Dell chipset driver, as well as the BIOS.  This didn't resolve it, but these moves were suggested as the fix. Trying to understand where to go next. Have to get this resolved now! PLease help. I've included the minidump contents below.

To resolve the issue follow the steps below:
1) Flash the BIOS for your model with the latest version.
2) Update the SATA HDD drivers for your model(I would recommend you download it from DELL website)

iaStor.sys is the driver for the onboard Intel SATA support.
It allows hard drives and other peripherals attached to an Intel motherboard via the SATA controller, to work.
