If you backed up your C: drive, search for the following file at a similar location:
C:\Windows\Debug\NetSetup.
It will specify the old pc name. Let me know if it works for you.

Did you keep a copy of your old registry files? The computer name is stored in the registry in one of the places below.
\System\Co ntrolSet00 1\Control\ Computerna me\Compute rname Control\Co mputername \
If you didn't keep (or export) your registry at some point - then you are out of luck and will need to find another way to get your programs running.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
or
HKLM\System\ControlSet001\
