Click on my computer and Windows Installer comes up

When I click on my computer windows installer pops up. If I wait long enough or click cancel I do in fact get into my computer. I don't want to have to go through that each time.

Your computer has been infected with Malware/Virus.

I recommend SpyBot, My SuperAntiSpyware, HiJackThis, ComboFix, and AVG.

Unusual. What happens if you do all Windows Updates including SP2 and up to but not including SP3 until you update all your basic drivers (audio, video, network drivers, etc.)?

If you are entirely updated with respect to Windows, then scan thoroughly for Viruses and Malware. ... Thinkpads_User

Windows is up to date with SP3. I will try doing the scans now. I do notice that even if I go into control panel Windows Installer comes up.

If you are uncomfortable with it, don't do ComboFix.  Most of the time the latest SpyBot will do the trick.  If you can't run SpyBot, update antivirus, or even do a Windows Update, then you are definitely infected

Whats trying to install? If you go to the logs, you should see logs from teh source "Windows Installer", and it should tell you the name of the application that it is trying to configure/repair.....

Start>run>eventvwr.msc

Look for Application Log.....

Had to reload windows. Tried a repair and that did not work either.
