Check the bios and see if the hard drive is detected. It's possible the drive has failed.
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI have a situation where I'm getting the above failure. I have a Dell inspiron 1501 with PC guardian encryption plus installed on the hard drive. I accidently loaded the BIOS defaults and now get this error. I'm wondering if by loading the BIOS defaults I somehow froze the hard drive which results in this error.
The only other thing I can think of is that right before loading the BIOS defaults I ran a diagnostics test whhich showed the hard drive DST short test as failed
Any thoughts?

Thanks for the replies everyone.
When I get home today I'll first make sure the drive is seated properly and then try checking the disk with the ubcd.
Before leaving for work I tried to check the bios to see if it recognized the hd. Strangely it would lock up and freeze as soon as I moved from the "main" selection to the "advanced" selection.
When I disconnected the HD, the BIOS worked as normal. As soon as I put the drive back in the BIOS locked up on the advanced tab again.
Seem the issue is definitely with the hd. Using the UBCD I was unable to attempt any repair because the HD wasn't recognized.
Is it possible that when I loaded the BIOS defaults the PC gaurdian encryption plus software "froze" the HD rendering it un-recognizable?
Thanks again for the replies
that would be a strange reaction from PC guardian, but not impossible.
maybe best to contact them on this issue : http://www.pcguardian.com/

That happens when you enable Boot from Network (PXE) and there's no server listening to the request sent from PXE.
Go into the BIOS, change boot sequence and put your hard drive above network boot.
Or disable network boot altogether.
This isn't really an error.
