xp pro: folder properties is missing "Sharing" tab

Subject says it all.  I have an XP Pro machine and when I right-click on a folder and select "Properties", the "Sharing" tab is missing.  It has "Web Sharing", but no way to set the permissions the way I am used to with the "sharing" tab.

Thanks for any help-

Is FIle and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks listed on your network properties?

In Windows Explorer  ->Tools -> Options -> VIew -> Advanced is Simple File sharing enabled?

For Web sharing I think that you must had enabled the wed server (IIS)

You need to ensure file and print sharing protocol is enabled\installed on the TCP\IP properties as well. For Websharing, yes IIS will need to be installed also.

How is an article on fixing a missing "Security" tab a solution, when the question was how to restore the "Sharing" tab? Or is the solution the same? Or am I missing something?
