go in the bios, and check that usb support is enabled (legacy ?)
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI had a problem with my XP Pro installation where it would not boot in either regular or safe mode. I ran setup to try to repair the install and everything seemed to be ok. It reboots and continues the install, but at about the 34 minute remaining point, the keyboard and mouse stop working. And then the setup stops due to the installing of hardware that hs not passed the Windows Logo testing (NVidia 7600 GT). I cannot choose to continue or to not install it as the mouse and keyboard do not respond. They were working just fine earlier in the setup. Both are USB. I tried to move them to new USB ports, but no help. I need to either fix them or remove the video driver before this happens so that the setup doesn't stop. Anyone know which file I should delete?

No KVM. Bios is correctly setup. I used a PS2 mouse and keyboard to get fully installed, but ran in to another problem. I used an Dell OEM XP disk to run the repair as it had the SP3 included. Now the activation wizard tells me that I do not have an authorized copy of XP. Could the use of the OEM disk cause this problem?

I have seen this when using a KVM switch. If you aren't using a KVM, you might consider a different USB port.
