We have found that DEP interferes with a few of our systems, and that switching it to 'OptOut' is no enough, the only way is to turn is off completely by adding a /NoExecute switch in the Boot.ini file.
The thing is, I could easily create a GPO that would replace the boot.ini on the client machines, but I'd rather not replace the file. Is there a way of using batch script to modify the file instead, but using some kind of lookup of something?
Or, if you know another way of switching DEP completely off.

To configure DEP settings
>>Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click System.
>>Click the Advanced tab. Then, under Performance, click Settings.
>>Click the Data Execution Prevention tab.
>>Click Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only to select the OptIn policy.
>>Click Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select to select the OptOut policy.
>> If you selected the OptOut policy, click Add and add the applications that you do not want to use DEP with.

No, this is what I'm saying... Opting out of DEP for Internet Explorer is not enough.
I already have an exception for Internet Explorer in DEP, but when I open Cedar eFinancials, a web-based ledger system using Oracle JInitiator, I get Internet Explorer crashing with DEP error.
However, if I turn off DEP completely - NOT the OptIn mode, but the AlwaysOff mode that can only set set by modifying BOOT.INI - then it works.
Perhaps I need to add an exception to something other than Internet Explorer, perhaps one of the JInitiator files.
Also, how do I add exceptions to DEP through group policy?

I made an exeption in DEP for 'javaw.exe' and it worked. Now, all I need is to push this exception out via group policy. Any ideas?
