RDC on XP can only handle one session at a time. Each user can log and have their own profile, they just cannot be logged in at the same time. Do the users need to use the pc to use the access database or can you share the database and have multiple users accessing the database from 4-5 computers on a network?
In order to have multiple session on a machine, you need to invest in terminal services. Windows server will allow 1 console and 2 terminal (RDC) connections out of the box. Only a administrator can use those connection though. With Terminal services, you can have 4-5 domain users access their own session/profiles all at the same time.

With file sharing over the network only up to 10 users at one time.
Remote Desktop to an XP box is only ever one user at any given time - so if there is someone logged in at the PC & another user tries to Remote Desktop in either the locally logged in user will be kicked or the Remote Desktop user will not be allowed in.
Unofficially there was a Pre-(beta) SP1 DLL file that Microsoft used which allowed multiple user logins but I haven't trialled it in years. There was a similar thread here last year from memory that was quite familiar & I think I posted the DLL details there.
Do remember however that it may void some Microsoft EULA licenses though.
