I can try. Haven't done it before. I'll take a look. Thanks.

Browse All TopicsWhen installing Windows XP, on a Lenovo (IBM) M58p, type 7635-AE4, I get STOP error 0x0000007B.
This is not related to a boot sector virus. I've tried it on a number of brand new PCs.
I also tried loading RAID controller drivers during the install but I still get the still get the error.
The error does not happen if I install a Windows XP SP3 image I have (using Ghost). It only occurs when I try to install XP Pro (no service pack).
I need the XP Pro without service pack for a particular application.
I can't think of what it could be besides RAID drivers. Any ideas?

Sometimes Non standard boot partitions causes a stop error 0x0000007B:
Try the following steps:
boot to recovery console (boot from Windows XP CD and press "R" when prompted to
enter the recovery console.)
ran "chkdsk /r" to check the disk and found no errors.
ran "bootcfg /scan" to further check the disk and still found no errors.
---if you find an error here you can try "bootcfg /rebuild" to rebuild the
partition.
ran "fixmbr" and if it detects a non-standard boot partition. Chose to fix this
issue.
Ok, I had the same problem, but solved it.
Try this:
1. BIOS --> ATA Drivers Setup --> AHCI disabled
2. StartUp--> StartUp Sequence--> delete Floppy
3. StartUp-->StartUp Sequence --> add IDE HDD
Also I did receive some follow-up help from Lenovo when I had the issue and they provided a working SATA driver for us:
http://www-307.ibm.com/
We were able to add that to our boot CD image to avoid having to make BIOS changes to every system we load. These drivers also worked for loading the OS from a generic XP CD using the F6 method. Lenovo support also mentioned that they can change BIOS options for custom models, so you can order M58's with AHCI disabled and the IDE devices in the startup sequence if you want.
