Question

Screen resolution of Viewsonic LCD Monitor

Asked by: mriz81

Hi, I have windows XP, VIA / S3G DeltaChrome IGP buit-in display adaptor  and ViewSonic VA1918wm 19" wide screen  LCD monitor.

When I try to set it's screen resolution ( using desktop properties ), I don't see 1440x900.
I only see the max resolution of 1360x768

I have attached screen shot of display properties screen with this message.

Can any body tell me how can I set screen resolution of 1440x900 for my monitor?

Please help.

Sometimes Windows is unable to properly detect the settngs of new monitors. Recommend that you install the Viewsonic drivers for your monitor. http://ap.viewsonic.com/in/kbase/article.php?id=3

Another possible cause is not enought video memory to render the video at the desired resolution. Allocate the maximum amount of shared memory to the video function. This is normally found in the BIOS settings. You could also change color quality to medium (16 Bit) which requres less memory to render the same screen resolution.

Good Luck and post your updated comments.

Your video card needs updated to support the new settings.  Go to www.viewsonic.com
to get the drivers for the monitor you have.

@d_may, I have installed the monitor driver from cd which came with LCD monitor, but nothing has changed.

@SJH01, I have installed LCD driver from the cd which came with it, but I still can't see the 1440x900 resolution. I have tried setting colors to 16bit too, but things remained same. One more thing, On my previous CRT 19" monitor, I was able to use 1600x1200 resolution too. So its not a problem of Display Memory.

- Did you check if there is a specific option under your Display Adapter properties tab that blocks or control the maximum resolution ?

Could you please post a screenshot for the S3 Graphics Adapter options ?

I updated the display adapter's driver using "Update Driver Automatically" option and windows itself found an update for display adapter.

Now I can see the 1440x900 resolution.
