0x0000007B STOP error when trying to install to new drive (XP)

Hi All.

I'm trying to reinstall XP onto an Advent 4489 netbook. (I don't have any OEM recovery/driver CDs).

It's got a new SATA drive in the machine. When I try to install XP, it starts to run through the setup but then bluescreens with:

0x0000007B (0xF8990524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

I can't see any SATA drivers listed for the machine so presuming that's not the problem(?). Any more ideas please?

Just to add...

I can see the drive fine using Knoppix so it 'feels' like a problem with the drivers for the SATA but I can't find any...

There's no BIOS option to run the SATA in legacy/IDE mode either.

Install the motherboard chipset drivers after xp installs. Use the SATA drivers at the "Press F6" prompt to install them during the beginning of installation.

Is SATA HDD is compatible with your advent 4489 Net-book...?

Now HDD is not detecting by WInxp,you have to find out the SATA HDD driver and copy it to floppy and use F-6 option at start of winxp Installation as flubbster said but i think FDD is not with netbook 4489.


 Please Read this also for recovery CD or Upgrade Bios version.

Flubster - thanks for finding the drivers, I'd looked but couldn't see the wood for the trees I guess :)

That netbook doesn't have a FDD & wouldn't work with my USB FDD (I seem to recall slipstreaming some USB FDD files to overcome this once before but haven't got them to hand) so was just heading back to the PC to jog my memory on creating slipstreams when up popped Nobus' reminder. (I use nLite btw, very good).

So thanks all. For me it was one of those mornings when you *should* know the answers but can't quite get there without a quick helping hand so much obliged.

It's loading up fine now. Cheers.
