Question

This copy of windows must be activated, then a blank screen

I was having problems getting the CD drives to recognize in windows and found a solution to delete the filters. I was able to do that and do a repair install of XP but now when I login it says:
This copy of windows must be activated with MS before you can log on. Do you want to activate now?
I hit yes and it doesn't take me any where. just the background image and no dialog box.
If i hit the power button it logs off and takes me back to the logon screen.

You would likely be faster and safer to reinstall the OS.

You have entered what microsoft terms "a state of limited functionality"  in which your OS has exceeded the activation window of 30 days.
