So, here's the deal: I've got a pair of XP SP3 laptops with a mini-four-pin 1394 firewire port on each. I want to use the firewire connection to transfer files.
The cable between them is brand new out of the box.
I've enabled the 1394 network adapter, shared the folder I was to copy and set the IPs and subnet masks correctly (10.0.0.x/24, different IPs for each laptop)
What I'm getting is no IP address - ipconfig brings up no IP information at all.
So, I've done this:
1) I uninstalled the 1394 Net Adapter from Device Manager.
2) I ran the command netsh int ip reset [log_file_name].
3) I ran the command netsh winsock reset catalog.
4) I restarted my computer.
No joy, still getting a blank when I try ipconfig.
Where do I go from here?
