I have a XP machine that just was reformated with a new hard drive. It's also running Kaspersky AV. The machine was fine for a month or two and then it started "stopping" downloading. It will download small files like jpg. When i want to listen to some music online it will start the song and then stop. If i want to watch a You Tube movie (or break or cnn, any streaming movie) It will start and then stop and act like it's trying to load but never does. I see the network activity pretty much stops like there is a time out happening. If i try to download a program like adobe reader the download will start for a couple seconds and then stop. I posted on here and was told to go through the winsock repair which i did with not results and then finally was told to restore which worked for about a week and now my machine is back to this problem. I have run scans with Kaspersky and Malwarbytes finding no problems. I can browse just fine with the exception of my gmail account......i have to view it in "http version" because the newer version won't load. I got on my laptop yesterday on this network and everything works fine so it has nothing to do with my ISP, modem or router. This is drivin me nuts......help please.

what setting, specifically? I've turned the damn thing off to see if that was causing some issues and i have the same problem. The only way i was able to clear it up was to clean out my temp folder and reboot....that worked for about an hour. Also, a couple days ago everything seemed to work for a couple hours.

Check your AV settings....
