If you can slave this drive to your own and run scans that way, this will clean most everything. Otherwise, get UBCD4Win and add the malwarebytes plugin and the antivirus plugins and boot and scan with that. Provided nothing important was deleted, you'll be all set.

forgot to mention that I'ved slaved the drive and run online scans and regular scans with nod 32m and vipre & spybot& malware .org and removed stuff but I still can't turn on the folder view or edit the registry and so forth

We can't compare Hijackthis to Combofix as these are 2 totally different scanners.
Hijackthis is more of a diagnostic tool and right now it isn't a very good one at that as a lot of nasties can hide from its scan.

As already suggested use Combofix.
Please download ComboFix by sUBs:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
(If it doesn't run, re-download and rename before saving to your desktop)

Now STOP all your monitoring programs (Antivirus/Antispyware, Guards and Shields) as they could easily interfere with ComboFix.
Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a log. Please save that log and attach it in your next reply by pasting it in the "Code Snippet" or "Attach File" window.
Re-enable all the programs that were disabled during the running of ComboFix..

Note:
Do not mouse-click combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

If needed, here's the Combofix tutorial which includes the installation of the Recovery Console:

go to taksmgr and see the processes where you may find viper, kill that and run combofix.

Can you attach the Combofix log here so we can check it?

The log should be in --C:\Combofix.txt

Thanks for the log.

There are still bad files showing in the log......I'll be back with a script for you to remove them.
Combofix didn't replace the missing eventlog.dll maybe because the clean one showing in the log is of a different version.

by: rpggamergirlPosted on 2009-11-04 at 13:21:41ID: 25744075

Run combofix again using this script.

1. Open Notepad.
2. Now copy/paste the text between the lines below into the Notepad window:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
File::
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\fegezano.dll
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\fomofege.exe
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\gazikiri.dll
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\milokira.exe
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\niwaminu.dll
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\pabinula.dll
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\ragivaze.exe
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\yahiviti.exe

DirLook::
c:\program files\elhnnh
------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Save the above as CFScript.txt in the same location as Combofix.exe.
4. Then drag the CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe. This will start ComboFix again.

You have a later version of eventlog.dll there but somehow that failed the sigcheck. Just use the one from the DLLCache folder(SP2) to replace it by using this script below:

FCopy::
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\DLLCACHE\eventlog.dll | c:\windows\system32\eventlog.dll

New CFcript will be like this below:
1. Open Notepad.
2. Now copy/paste the text between the lines below into the Notepad window:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
File::
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\fegezano.dll
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\fomofege.exe
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\gazikiri.dll
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\milokira.exe
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\niwaminu.dll
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\pabinula.dll
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\ragivaze.exe
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\yahiviti.exe

FCopy::
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\DLLCACHE\eventlog.dll | c:\windows\system32\eventlog.dll

DirLook::
c:\program files\elhnnh
------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Save the above as CFScript.txt in the same location as Combofix.exe.
4. Then drag the CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe. This will start ComboFix again.

there is nothing in the combofix folder
do I reinstak\ll it and then renun the script
thanks you're a life saver

by: rpggamergirlPosted on 2009-11-04 at 15:37:04ID: 25745364

What do you mean nothing in the Combofix folder?

Did you uninstall or delete combofix.exe after you run it?

If you did not delete it, then please just make a CFScript.txt and save it into this location --> F:\
And then drag the CFScript.txt into the Combofix.exe icon for Combofix to run using the script to delete those files.

by: roberttownsendPosted on 2009-11-04 at 16:44:36ID: 25745794

I may have run it from a flash drive
I didn't find any combo fix files

by: rpggamergirlPosted on 2009-11-04 at 17:13:57ID: 25745912

Yes you did run it from the F:\ which must be your flash drive...then when you make a script make sure you save it also in your flash drive...it has to be in the same location where you put your Combofix.exe.

Or you can download Combofix again and put it on your desktop and also put CFScript on your desktop. It is important that the script and the combofix.exe must be save together in the same location.

By the way, if VIPRE was supposed to be uninstalled? it's services are still running.
You can let Combofix remove traces of VIPRE by running this script.

File::
c:\windows\system32\sbbd.exe
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\sbtis.sys
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\sbaphd.sys
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\sbapifs.sys
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\SBREDrv.sys

Driver::

sbaphd
sbtis
sbapifs
SBRE

Folder::

c:\program files\elhnnh

I would also uninstall RogueRemover, it's no longer updated and MalwareBytes does a lot more and also free.

I plan to reinstall vipre but want to remove avg, suggestions?

by: rpggamergirlPosted on 2009-11-05 at 05:22:15ID: 25749101

You've tried both... and if you like VIPRE better, then go for it I don't have preference between the two... I'm using the free Avast.

If you can't uninstall it via the Add/Remove Programs, you can also try downloading the latest version and when you doubleclick on the file to run it it will then present you with the uninstall option.
http://www.pchell.com/virus/uninstallavg.shtml

If you still can't uninstall it, we can then let Combofix remove all its files, services,drivers etc.

Or you can also try RevoUninstaller.
http://www.revouninstaller.com/</SPAN>
</P>

Here are the steps if it helps:
[*]Double click the "Revo Uninstaller" icon on your desktop to start the program
[*]Scroll through the listed programs and Right Click on the program you wish to uninstall
[*]From the pop out menu choose "Uninstall"
[*]Click Yes to the confirmation dialogue
[*]In the next window select the "Advanced mode"
[*]Click Next to start uninstalling the program
[*]Answer Yes to confirm the uninstall
[*]When the program has completed the four steps, click Next to allow the program to search for leftovers
[*]Once complete, click Next, then Finish.

When you're done with Combofix, please uninstall it.

To uninstall Combofix:
Go to Start > Run and 'copy and paste' next command in the field:

ComboFix /Uninstall

Thanks!
