ntfs.sys file corrept

i tried to install xp pro.. using wiht windows xp installation cd. few seconds running then it asking ntfs.sys corrpected..press any computer for restart the system. this message is coming before the Welcome to Setup message.

Is this a new install/overlay install

Is there an operating system on the machine already

Have you used this disc before

If this disc is a golden OEM XP disc, then I'd say the disc or drive is bad.

If it's a disc you burned, then the ISO was probably slipstreamed incorrectly.  That's usually the case if someone was trying to integrate SATA/RAID drivers or SP3 from an SP2 disc.

adding to the  above; it can be  :
- a bad cd, or cd drive or cable - replace them for testing
- it can also be caused by bad ram; test with memtest86+ fom www.memtest.org

Best off booting from xp disc and going into recovery console and running

chkdsk /r

let it do that and also if you run a full format that should check for bad sectors

short of that you could try the below but its not supported by ms or anyone and there are no guarantee's

If the tests fail inc the ones above then maybe try a new hard drive

you might have HDD damage or motherrboard problem... I have to cure for that ... but are you using USB Keyboard... ? try to change to PS2 Keyboard first... a small try ... it did happened to me when I used to have a Dell dimension 3 years ago. USB Keyboard stop me from installing windows. Or you might want to try didfferent Service pack of XP
