The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

win xp sometimes slows down and freezes

Asked by goingape in Windows XP Operating System, Personal Computers

hi

mine windows xp keeps slowing down, programs take they're time loading and the same with
webpages everything goes very slow

and every ones in a while the whole win xp freezes and it looks like something is  processing
like crazy.

the red lights on my computer keep burning full out like when a program is heavy duty processing

all you can do then is hit the reset button, most of the time windows xp starts normal, but sometimes
it does a chkdisk scan and has to repair stuff.

i thought it was my harddisk because ones windows froze during installing a program and i had to
reset, but when it should boot up windows i got the message register file error something with
\systemroot\system32\config\security

i tried to fix this problem but without success,i didn't manage to boot the harddisk
so i thought my harddisk crashed and got a new one.

for a week i had no problems, but now it started again it already froze twice already.
the strange thing is that windows xp can run without any problems,no slow down.no freezing
runs perfect and then you get slow downs and freezing again.

i can not seem to pinpoint what causing it and i am stuck.maybe someone can help it is no fun
using your computer and waiting to freez again.

i am using:

windows xp pro
core 2 duo x6800
2 gb ram
