I have a really strange problem on one computer. There are a couple of Type 1 fonts that up until recently have never given a problem. But now one computer has a problem printing them. There is no problem on screen. The first time you print a document everything is fine. The 2nd time you print some or all the characters in the true type font are missing. If I reboot and print for the 1st time it works with no problem. The document in question is in Word 2003 but it isn't the only document with the problem.
I did also notice that the speed of printing when there is a problem is much faster than
What I have tried
1. The hardware. I moved the hard drive to a computer which is configured exactly the same in terms of hardware. The problem was still there.
2. I don't think it is a driver issue, it happens if I print to a physical printer or to a PDF using Acrobat.
3. It is not consistant in what it chooses to not print. I can print the same document to a PDF 3 times in a row and each time the results look different (different sections are missing)
4. Another computer which is configured exactly the same hardware and softer with the same versions, sevice packs, etc. does not have a problem.

I read that other people have this problem with type 1 fonts and Word 2003. Do you use any version of the Adobe type manager tool? They have a light version that is free: http://www.adobe.com/produ
I just read also that Adobe will not be supporting the type 1 fonts in the future. I am kind of glad to hear that, since they often cause problems and the new open type fonts seem to work better (and are cross platform compatible)

i would check the dreaded normal.dot file. rename it to normal.old and relaunch word and try again.
