better program for print JPGs from explorer (microsoft picture and fax viewer is annoying)

I am sure there is some easy way to perform this simple task, but I haven't found it yet.

I get many emailed documents that are JPG scans of 11 X 8.5 paper.

When I go to print them, with right click > print, I always seem to need further manual intervention.

For instance, picture and fax viewer requires 4 button pushes.

Or, if I change associations so print points to Paint, the printout usually spreads over 4 pages unless I
manually intervene to resize it.

I have also tried pointing the file association to scansoft paperport and internet explorer. Those also require manual intervention.

Hope someone can help.

i would use " IrfanView ". Its a free app. Powerfull and really fast.

I downloaded and installed infanview.  right click and select print still opens picture and fax viewer.

You could change the default print options for the file type.

In an Explorer window Tools> Folder Options ...

File Types tab

Find the file extension you want to change the print option for
(NB if you recieve both JPG and JPEG you will need to change the settings for both)

Highlight JPG in the list and click 'Advanced'

Click on Print in the Action List - Click 'Edit'

(At this point I always cut and paste the contents of these boxes into a Notepad file incase I need to undo my changes)

Change the entry for "Application used to perform action:"

"C:\Program Files\IrfanView\i_view32.exe" "%1" - if you want irfanview to open it ready to print

"C:\Program Files\IrfanView\i_view32.exe" "%1"/print - if you want irfanview to open send the image to the print spooler and close again.

(include the quotes as shown)

irfanview does what I want.

I don't know why the irfanview install program didn't set up the "print" function automatically, but your solution fixed the problem.

And, I don't know why Windows XP doesn't have such simple and obvious functionality built in.

But thanks for solving my problem.
