using Partition Magic is a good idea.

Just take into account, that each Operation System(OS) has to be installed only on primary partition. You can create up to 4 primary partitions on your disk, thus you can install up to 4 different OSes.
Part Magic has good documentation on this issue.

So, your option is to create another primary partition(formatted to FAT32) on your drive , then install win98.

I have, with Prtition Magic, 3 systems on single drive:
Linux, Win98 and Win2000.

Partition Magic is not freeware.
You can download a trial of PM here:

Hmm I just had a look at the powerquest website & they dont seem to offer a trial version at all which is a shame. That means there is no way of getting a free version legally as Experts Exchange has strict rules about illegal activity.

In short the answer to your question of "where can you get a copy of partition magic for free " is nowhere , its not a free product & does not have a free trial version availibe.

by: pjknibbsPosted on 2002-11-19 at 23:55:45ID: 7472171

There ARE freeware partition managers--there's one called Ranish Partition Manager, but I'm not sure where you can find it.

Ok i take that back , I decided to open my eyes as I couldnt believe they didnt have a trial copy , the in fact do have a trial copy

http://www.powerquest.com/partitionmagic/

Have a look there , theres a link to it that will get you a "legal" trial version

st_steve, actually Ghett0GuyJ mentioned a site to download a trial version first....

Per recommendation.  GhettOGuyJ's Zdnet site does not have a trial version.

man you can get the full version of a peer to peer program like Kaaza or Shareaza.

by: XygusPosted on 2004-06-06 at 10:09:44ID: 11244158

but keep in mind that sometimes people likes to throw in viruses in those illegal copies, so you should just buy the legal copy or get the trial version.

EE has a very strict policy concerning warez and such, Xygus.

I believe Powerquest was bought out by Symantec.
There are no further updates or products from Powerquest.
Symantec is now supporting the line.

Did you ever hear of FREEDOM OF INFORMATION

by: stevenlewisPosted on 2005-01-04 at 07:01:00ID: 12952571

sorry chuckseyaway, but this is a privately owned website, and as such they can make the rules as they see fit (hence the member agreement that we ALL agreed to when we joined)
and of course pirating software is illegal

Yes, I'm familiar with the Freedom of Information Act.  Here is a summary:

"The Freedom of Information Act provides specifically that “any person” can make requests for government information. Citizens who make requests are not required to identify themselves or explain why they want the information they have requested.   The position of Congress in passing FOIA was that the workings of government are “for and by the people” and that the benefits of government information should be made available to everyone."

Since this isn't government information I'm not sure how it relates.

Christ I only said why not download the full version instead of going to the trouble of downloading a trial version of something that will expire after 30 days or less and now everyone is quoting the law and what not at me. Why buy a half stale loaf of bread when you could buy one that stays fresh forever. Practically it makes more sense but since you folk are all hell bent on certain issues regarding software and piracy, perhaps you should keep an closer eye on the rest of the site ...... is snad boy a hacking tool..hhhmmm

by: chuckseyawayPosted on 2005-01-07 at 16:08:23ID: 12989688

I have done Google searches for hacking tools and various decryption/cracking programs and EE always seems to come up. Someone always mentions something which google finds on searches. If you want to ban me - go ahead, it wont stop me re-registering again under a different name. I understand you are an antihacking and piracy website but as I said earlier users are using decryptors and phreaking tools in the forum. I wont mention again the sites which I mentioned before as you are a private website but I am not the only one using links to hacking sites some use them very cleverly.
I will pass on any I find again....if you dont ban me....

I"ve read the long set  of emails and copyright issues and to be absolutely sincere with you, you are always better off WITHOUT Partition Magic. The software just corrupted my hard disk 2 days ago and I was not able to repair it, losing valuable files that I didn't backup (80% I did backup though). They call this software "Partition Tragic" for a reason. Just go to the Storage section of this forum, search Partition Magic, and you'll see the mosntruous list of problems reported here. If you still want to use the software, provided you have a legal copy, then I wish you all my luck - don't forget to backup ALL your drive before using it...

In my experience Ranish is difficult to use and it's generally shonky appearance put me off installing it. Partition Magic downloads are eveluation only, you cannot use them. A small freeware utility I have used and found helpful is Partition Resizer.

by: djhathPosted on 2005-09-15 at 13:43:39ID: 14893286

Does Partition Resizer do NTFS partitions?  I'm currently digging for that answer.
