Question

no "eject/unplug hardware" icon in system tray

Got two 32MB USB memory sticks for exchanging data between my PC's. On one of the systems runs win98 SE.
When plugging the sticks in, no icon appears for unplugging, so I have to power down for safe removal of them.
On Win2000 all works fine.
Anyone any idea?

Windows 98se provided basic support for USB products, with refinements coming later in ME and 2K/XP.  For safe removal of the USB keys, just remove them after all activity has ceased.

As long as there is no interruption in data flow going to the USB keys, your data (and everything else) is safe.

Thanks for your answer Stan,
I installed a plextor USB burner the other day and now the system tray shows an unplug icon, and looks like W2k, but when clicked, it still does not show the memory sticks, only the plextor burner.
So even with additional USB software installed, it still does not show the sticks. Any more ideas?
