SBS 2000/2003 Licensing and Clients

Asked by segmentalfault in Operating Systems Miscellaneous

Hello:

I'm a bit confused.  If I buy Windows SBS 2000 or 2003, it comes with 5 licenses and Exchange, thats fine.  However, are these just "licenses" for clients to connect, or does SBS come with Windows 2000 Professional that can be installed on 5 computers using a uniform key?

Basically, if I have one server and 15 clients, do I need to buy SBS 2000 or 2003 plus 15 versions of Windows 2000 Professional for the clients?  Or do I just buy 10 more 2000Prof for the clients?

I suppose if they are just "licenses" to connect to the server and not a distribution of a client OS, I would have to buy 10 more "licenses" anyhow for the sbs.

Thanks in advance,

Confused, Ryan.

PS - You'd think there'd be some sort of interactive calculator or something to do this all for you :).  But that'd be too easy now.
