I am getting 2 same type of error can you guys help me to understand why this is coming and how can i rectify it.

This DNS server is configured to obtain and use information from the directory for this zone and is unable to load the zone without it. Check that the Active Directory is functioning properly and reload the zone. The event data is the error code.

I am having Windows 2003 server. Can i follow the procedure described in the second article?

Yes the registry structure is essentially the same and so is security logging :0)

The event ID described in the second article is for 4000 and 4013 but in my server i am getting Event ID as 4007. The procedure described in the second aricle tells that we have to change the REG_DWORD value to zero. I have Display Type as "0"and Value Type "4". Should i have to change the Value type REG_WORD to "0". The third point given in the artile is to "Disable security auditing or archiving and clear the log", can you please tell me how to do this.Please tell me the impact of doing this and why this error is coming up. This event log is coming up once in 2 weeks. Why it is so? I am new to this so i am eager to know all the details.

Okay, I just got the same exact error message in Win2K3.

The first article presented seems most applicable. The second doesn't seem to really match the symptoms received.

Of course in the first article, the fix was to apply 2K Service Pack 1 to Win2K.
So, I'm assuming maybe this fix didn't make it into Win2K3, and there will proabbly be a patch out....some day....

Needless to say, I'd like to know EXACTLY why it happened also. The service basically went down at a time that there really wasn't very much happenning (4PM on a Saturday)

I am sorry, i was not feeling well. My server is windows 2003 server. In this article they tell about windows 2000 server. Will that make any difference.
Every thing seems to be workinf fine even though i get this error when i restart my Windows 2003 Server. Can you please tell be what will the effect of this error message? I have cleared the logs.

Are you getting this error constantly?
After the first time I received it on my server, it basically went away after rebooting.
I haven't had a repeat of this for a good 9-10 days.

From what I understand, there currently isn't a fix for this on the Windows 2003.

On Windows 2000, the fix was to apply Service Pack 1.

So, I'm not sure what can be done.

I am not getting this error frequently. When ever I restart the server i get this message. It seems that every thing is working fine but i don't know what will be the impact of this error in the future.
