Question

Cannot Right Click in Internet Explorer

Asked by: GRCHELPDESK

Suddenly nothing happens when I right click within IE (XP Pro, IE v.6. SP1).

Also, I cannot Copy/past anything from IE with my mouse or my keyboard?  Very strange, not sure where to start.

I can however right click, copy/paste in any other program.

Any Advise?

Thanks,

Maybe it's the website. The website u visited might hv stopped u from right clicking. Some websites do that to stop u from copying their pictures.

Hope this helps!!!

tr1cksho7 took my first idea!!
My second one is an IE issue, have you recently installed an ActiveX, a toolbar for IE, or anything on your computer?
Wish I can help

Second, you may use system restore to go back to a healthy moment on your computer! Back up any new data on your drives, then restore.

You could try running Adaware or Spybot and see if you have something that it messing the system up.  Could also check for viruses.

I agree about AdAware and Spybot. Run those and if nothing changes reinstall IE. This shouldn't take more than about thirty to forty minutes total time and you can rule many things out by doing so. Good luck. David

Well...I tried all of the suggestions above and still nothing.  It's a doozy.  Checked on google and found some users with the same issue and none of them found a fix.
Thanks for trying.

When you highlight what you want to copy, rather than using CTRL+C to copy it, try using CTRL+Insert.  Thats the old dos way and thus far I haven't found an app that doesn't listen to it (even ones that purposefully remove ctrl+c functionality).  If that works, try reinstalling your keymaps under keyboard in control panel (come on, it's worth a shot).

Hows about uninstalling Internet explorer and then pop over to microsoft.com and download the latest version, if you do that, I hope you are unmetered or have broadband though.

What web address is it? Have others try to do the same see if it's the site or your PC, Also
Download and run Spybot from the link below. This will assure you don't have Adware/Spyware on your PC

Good Luck

Hey Dew,

Thanks for the info but I tried that already with no luck.  I ended up backing up the pc and re-installing xp.  Although this time I made sure the Restore Functionility was enabled.

Thanks again guys.
