With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Booting XP from a logical partition

I've set up a system with multiple partitions each containing XP.  I'm using a boot manager (Boot-US) to hide all bootable partitions except the one I wish to boot.  The first bootable partition is a primary, the others are logicals.

I had it working nicely, then stupidly played around with partitions, now the third and fourth won't boot.  Attempting to boot never gets to the ntlder.  It never even tries to access the OS on 3 and 4.

I had a similar problem when I set this (these) system up originally.  I had to add the partition as a primary, make it bootable, then convert it to a logical.  That procedure works but is extremely time consuming.  I did the fdisk /mbr, tried rebuilding the partition table, nothing helps.  I truly hope to not have to go through adding them back (one at a time) as primary partitions, then convert them to logical.

This is not an XP issue.  It has something to do with the bootloader or the MBR.
