The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Cluster Admin Comman Line  - The RPC server is unavailable

Asked by GraemeTL in Operating Systems Miscellaneous, Tivoli Storage Manager

Using the cluster admin command line tool I have created a simple batch script to check the status of our active/passive cluster servers and check a key service from each cluster group.  The syntax of the script is as follows:

"echo EUROPA CLUSTER (ACTIVE EB07GLER) >> c:\scripts\checkcluster.log
echo. >> c:\scripts\checkcluster.log
Cluster /cluster:eb09glerc group >> c:\scripts\checkcluster.log
echo. >> c:\scripts\checkcluster.log
Cluster /cluster:eb09glerc resource "Objective Server" >> c:\scripts\checkcluster.log
Cluster /cluster:eb09glerc resource "TSM group server" >> c:\scripts\checkcluster.log
Cluster /cluster:ebo9glerc resource "Oracle Services for MSCS" >> c:\scripts\checkcluster.log"

In total the script is checking 6 clusters and successfully completes on all servers except for one server where randomly one of the cluster groups (normally the second in script), reports "System error 1722 has occurred"  On further investigation if the script is ran line by line it is reporting "The RPC server is unavailable."  Output is as follows:

"EUROPA CLUSTER (ACTIVE EB07GLER)

Listing status for all available resource groups:

Group                Node            Status

-------------------- --------------- ------

Cluster Group        EB07GLER        Online

Application Group    EB07GLER        Online

TSM Group            EB07GLER        Online

Listing status for resource 'Objective Server':

Resource             Group                Node            Status

-------------------- -------------------- --------------- ------

Objective Server     Application Group    EB07GLER        Online

Listing status for resource 'TSM group server':

Resource             Group                Node            Status

-------------------- -------------------- --------------- ------

TSM group server     TSM Group            EB07GLER        Online

System error 1722 has occurred"

After looking at previous articles in the forum I have checked all settings and compared against other servers in the group and cannot see any problems.  I would appreciate if anyone can assit me accordingly.

Regards

Graeme
