Any idea who the make and model are on the mobo?
Any distinctive markings on the mobo? Something that can give away what it is?
It will be much easyer to help if I know what board I`m looking at.

Another little thing, update the drivers and then update the version of direct X.

Whevever windows crashes a system event 1001 and a minidump is written. Can you copy the contents of the 1001 event and paste back here.

There have a  lot of hits of nvmvp.sys when I search google. The system event 1001 is definitely useful to find out solution of the problem.

Your onboard sound is generating this error. This is caused by a number of things. Overclocking, faulty power supply (voltage fluctuations), cpu overhating, bad memory and outdated bios. If you post computer model/series, we can pinpoint the problem faster.

Try using only one stick of memory and try again,if you only have one stick try moving it to a different memory slot

Try rolling back to default xp drivers. Before installing new drivers, be sure to remove the existing drivers from your system.
1) Go into your Control Panel
2) Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon
3) Select the NVIDIA Windows Display Drivers from the list of programs.
4) Click Change/Remove or Add/Remove button.
5) Confirm with Windows that you wish to continue with the uninstall

nope the motherbaord only says nvidia in places, it has a sticker inside saysing some stuff about emachines, programs can never mick up the type/model of my mobo. so i cant identfy it any more. i got an emachines 610, it dosent seem to be around though, the web site dont have my model on there BUT IT IS a 610, as the rubish stick on the front of the case says :(

where can i find the system log thingy?

changing drivers didnt help, i been though mobo and graphics ones none of which work, the memory is not so good is possibly the reason but nothing else is ever effected by this :S

I'm still waiting for the  system event 1001. If you can attach the minidump at any attached webspace it is definitely helpful to find out the culprit. Youn can find the minidmp at the folder \windows\minidump\*.dmp.

I processed the minidump and the the failing reason is nvmcp.sys encounters NT status code   0xC0000092 (ie STATUS_FLOAT_STACK_CHECK) which is definitely a software error at nvmcp.sys.

How many times do you have this problem?
1) Download the latest device driver from nVidia Web. Sometimes the latest device driver may still have problem. You have to email nVidia Support to report your problem.   The rule of thumb is the latest device driver does not work then fallback the device driver to a lower level until the problem is resolved

Bingo... Same specs here, except not an Emachine. I wonder if you could just get doesn the clock on that one. Probably going down to the BIOS advanced options and making sure the clock mutliplier is 10 and not more. I need to to cool mine my putting it in front of the AC for it to take the clocking of 11x. Otherwise, all kinda errors.

as for the ati thing, i tryed once to install a 9200SE, i THOUGHT i had used nasty file remover to get rid of all ati stuff but apparently not, i will re-run it and make surre all ati related stuff is gone...

well, after running NFR it found 3 ati drive files, whops user error. as i keep on saying, i will wait to see if a get another bsod, thx dudes and dudessess

Did you uninstall ATI display card and install nVidia Display Card? After you installed the new display card, the BSOD occurs? If yes, it seems that the uninstallation of ATI did not remove all the ATI drivers or ATI installtion embedded into some windows modules. The uninstallation of ATI did not remove the changed windows modules. If it is the case, you need to re-install windows and install the nVidia Driver.

yes i uninstalled the ati drivers, as i sad NFR cleaned up the remaining ati drivers files. it seems to be sorted, but i will have to see :(

I've processed the latest minidump and it is exactly the same problem. If you don't do any change, the BSOD problem will not resolve

I find 3 hits for this problem so your problem must relate to Nvidia device driver problem. The latest driver is 9 November 2004 and your display card driver is 26 May 2004 which is almost half year behind. Upgrade the latest nVidia Display Card.

You can use add/remove software to de-install display card driver if you encounter more serious problem after upgrading the device card driver.

i have the lates n force drives and the newest geforece drivers dont help (and the ones inbetween) anywho the lates graphics drives just make my pc run even wors with corrupot backrounds games etc etc, these current drives seem to be the best ones

This nVidia Display Card Driver Problem.  Goto nVidia Webpage and contact their technical support to resolve your problem
