lsass.exe problem on Windows Domain

I have a notebook with Windows XP Professional. Usually I use it on my own home network which consists of a DSL line, a wireless/Ethernet router (with firewall) and another Mac Notebook.
Everything works finen this network.

I also use it at my office network that I share with some other users. Most of their computers are also Macs and there is no Windows NT/2000/2003 Server on this network.
Everything works fine there too.

However:
Recently, whenever I go to a customer that has a Windows NT network (with Servers) and they put my notebook on their network, within a short amount of time I will get the following error and my computer will shut down:

The system process 'C:\windows/system32\lsass.exe' terminated unexpectedly with status code -1073741819 the system will now shutdown and restart

I am using AVG Virus Software and it is unable to detect any viruses, so I don't think it is a virus.

The one thing that is a bit strange with my setup is, that I am always logged into my notebook as a user of a Domain that does not rally exist anymore.
Toi explain: My notebook was originally set up when I worked at another company and they had a Windows 2000 Domain server. I logged in as <theirDomain>/<MyName>
When I left the company, I purchased the notebook with all its software from them, and since it seems to be impossible to change your login name and keep all the settings and everything else exactly in place, I keep logging in as <theirDomain>/<MyName>.
Strangely enough this works, even though there is no domain server anymore that manages the password for this account (this would be another question: Where the h... does the notebook have the password for this account saved? It can obviously authenticate me!)

I am wondering if the problem could have anything to do with this, sin it only occurs when I log on to a network with Windows Domain servers.
