    Hello Caiapfas =)

Just boot in safemode and login as the ORIGINAL ADMINSITRATOR account with its password or with a blank one.... then from Control Panel>USer Accounts choose your user and hit Remove Password from this account.... it will remove your user's password!

But if you dont know the Adminsitrator password, or its the Adminsitrator user password which is forgotten then read this,
    Forgot Administrator Password:
    http://www.petri.co.il/forgot_administrator_password.htm

Offline NT Password & Registry Editor
    http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/

    Or Use this Tool

Log into safe-mode command line or recovery console and type the following commands:

    net user newusername newpassword /add
    net localgroup administrator newusername /add

Reboot normally and log in with the created username and password you created.  It will also be apart of the local admin group so you should have full rights to make any changes to the computer.

Once you log into the computer, rightclick on "My Computer" and click "Manage".  From there click on "local users and groups".  Click on "Users" and then highlight "administrator" in the right pane, righclick and select "Set Password" to reset to new password.

You could download the ultimate boot cd which has many usefull tools on it, including a utility to reset windows passwords.

    http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/

PS, if you are using windows XP it surprises me you can get access to your filesystem with a win98 boot disk. haven't you used the ntfs filesystem, which is much more secure and also has better possibilities to recover from crashes?

You can convert fat32 to ntfs by using the following command from a command prompt:
    convert c: /fs:ntfs

    Caiapfas,

A guaranteed way to get back into your system is to get hold of winternals ERD Commander.

you can download it from here: http://www.winternals.com/products/repairandrecovery/erdcommander2002.asp?pid=erd

This is an awesome program and it will allow you to get into your system as normal and then change your password.

    Or try this in dos

    net user newadmin rememberme /add
    net localgroup administrators newadmin /add

creates a new admin account called "newadmin" with "rememberme" as a password.

That way you can get back in.

If you really need the password of the old account you can try to crack the SAM hashes with lopthcrack for instance. JohnTheRipper is another option so I heard :)

Yeah as kneH said, you can try to crack the SAM hashes. And then in 100 years when it finishes cracking it, if I still have the same email I'll check your post to see if it worked.
