You can also try the following:
1)go to START menu
2)go to RUN
3)type "cmd" without the quotes, press ENTER
4)a black window pops up, type "ipconfig" without the quotes, press ENTER
5)WRITE DOWN the #'s across from ip address, with the periods
6)Go to the page as shown here:

7)Find the ports you need forwarded ie: pretend you need to forward TCP port 21, and UDP port 21
8)type 21 in both public and private ports
9)verify the RADIO BUTTON is on TCP
10)under Host IP address, type in your IP address as you copied from step #5
a)you can verify your ip at http://www.whatismyip.com
11)Click ADD this settings
12)Repeat for each port that you need forwarded, VERIFY that you have the PROPER TCP or UDP radio button checked as needed.
In addition, some ISPs block certain ports, you can write your congressman about that.
If you can get me the model#s...can probably provide better instructions
