stealing focus

On Windows, programs can pop up and steal focus. I have tried the TweakUI program to prevent that but it still happens.

Doesn anyone know how to prevent programs from stealing focus?

If popups are the ones that does this. Get a good pop up blocker software to do this.

If Windows XP, disable WIndows Messenger service first.

When I said pop up, I was not refering to IE pop-ups... I was refering to the ones created by running programs. For example, if you have Outlook running and have selected the option to "Show new mail desktop alert", Outlook will pop up a window that says "new mail" and has two buttons. It steals focus when it does this.

There is no way to do this.  Part of being able to open a window is that it must have focus.  You can either just wait the few seconds it taks for the "new mail" to release focus or turn this option off.

ESQuicksall, if you click Show new mail desktop alert" the focus should go to Outlook as this is what you are indicating to it.

I am sure this cannot be changed.  You have to manually click on the application which needs the focus.

It is Hard coded in the windows XP kernel. You cannot do that.
i realise you have this problem while playing games. and suddenly your focus  stolen to point to the pop up. the only way to do it is manually configure all programs not to show popups :(
