Hi All
I currently have MS Exchange 2000 operating
and are in need of an Spam solution.
The Mail Server is being flooded with Spam!!!
I was wondering if there is a built in feature that will enable me
to block a lot of incoming spam and possibly out going?
If not some possible add on software would be handy.
I know Ms Exchange 2003 has a filter add on but have not found a
solution for MS exhange 2000.

We have had great success with GFI mail essentials. You can install it without a restart. It has 8 different ways to determien what is soam as awell as adding public folders that allow users to drag and drop mail into white lists and black lists. That way you dont have to do it. It also has great protection from DHA which if unhandles cause NDR loops in you SMTP mail queues. Check out thier site

We tried several major solutions, even purchased GFI MailEssentials, but then we abandoned it in favor of Aloaha, www.aloaha.com . The biggest advantage of it is that unlike others, it does not accept spam at all - it rejects it already during SMTP session, so the NDR is generated not by your mailserver but by sender's. It also supports new features - SPF, domain keys, greylisting, and URI. We found it far surpassing all other spam solutions, from much bigger developers.
The only build-in protection that Exchange 2000 gives you is the abbility to stop recieving mail from certain email addresses. This can be accessed from Exchange System Manager--->Global Settings--->Message Delivery (Right Click Properties) ---> Filtering.
Sorry but you should consider a upgrade to 2003. Its very simple and trouble-free to upgrade

As far as I know there isn't one for Exchange 2000.
However, there are several options. If you want a free solution, then check out:

Other than that there are many commercial options. We use iHateSpam Server Edition from Sunbelt Software. I have mixed feelings about that, in summary it catches about 70% os spam. If you want want details about that product write back.

There are also hardware based solutions, they tend to be more expensive.
