The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How to Install Red Hat Linux Fedora ?

Asked by sumprit in Operating Systems Miscellaneous, Fedora Linux, Red Hat Linux

Hi there,

I am new to LINUX and I have to install this on my home machine as a part of my assignment.

My system already has WIN XP Prof running , but since I cannot buy "PARTITIONMAGIC" so I am thinking to remove this OS and make a new install in this machine for LINUX only.

Can you help me please ? These are the details. Tell me how to proceed ?

512 MB of RAM
SONY Monitor CPD-420 GS
HP LaserJet 1100 (MS)
Hard Disk Interface Type – IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.
Serial Port and IRQ used were – COM1 & LPT1
NTFS File system
Mobile Intel ® Pentium ® 4 – M CPU 2.00 GHz Processor
A standard DSL Modem and a Linksys Router Wireless G 2.4 GHz, to provide connections to other computers in the house.

This system consists of one drive – C Drive with 7.88 GB of used space and 85.26 GB of Free Space available. But since I would be installing LINUX on this machine so obviously I can use the entire space.

Now I have 2 options which one should I proceed with :-

1.> Should I first remove WIN XP Professional from my system and then install FEDORA CORE.

2.> or should I simple insert the CD for FEDORA , and when tells me to assign the partitioning I should delete the NTFS .

please advice.
