What happens if you're at the desktop, and you right mouse click on the task bar at the bottom of the screen.
Typically, you get a pop-up menu. One of the items on that menu is "Task Manager". Does that appear.
If it does not appear, I'd think task manager is disabled in the system/registry.
If you can pick the task manager and access it, then its either a keyboard or some other problem (which I'm having a hard time coming up with other possibilities!)
Well let me know what happens when you try to invoke the task manager using my above directions.
