Can I install Microsoft Office Document Image Writer on server?
In a situation where RDP clients are accessing a terminal server, and all printers from that local workstation are picked up by the server, is there a way to have the Image Writer driver installed on the server without installing Office?

Do you really need the Office Image Writer, or just something the users can use to print to a file? FinePrint PDF Factory works on terminal servers, and would allow your users to "print" to a pdf.

Actually, I don't even need it. I'm just trying to clear up errors that I get on the server because the driver is not installed, and rather than go to each location and handle this on the client side, I was hoping to take care of it on the server side. And yes, this is Microsoft Office Image Writer.
Which solution provided the answer? I asked about having a driver available on the server for Office Image Writer without installing Office. Merete, your response was to install Office. And while all the info posted is helpful (including yours), none provided a way of intalling the driver. Unless I missed it.
I certainly will not object to handing out the points here, to you or anyone else. I think good information should be rewarded even if it was not the direct answer. You have helped me in the past and I have given you points. That will continue and I don't mean to start any arguement here. But the other answers involved doing things I didn't want to do for various reasons, and none provided the driver.

No. You can install just the Image Writer component of Office from the Office install (though this still counts as an Office license as you are still installing Office, just not the rest of Office). Microsoft Office Document Imaging is considered part of the Office Core and relies on other parts of Office, thus isn't available separately.
You could use a third party solution (e.g. FinePrint pdfFactory Server Edition) to provide similar functionality.

Ijust wanted your final thoughts, which I have, I agree with your new comments no suggestions have helped, then EE appreciates if you could return and close " your" question, I am very happy to agree to refund your points that is only fair to you.
But I cannot do this for you only you can.

As far as I know you are required to install Office.

It's like Adobe's version of Acrobat. To create a pdf file you need the standard version but to view it, just the free client.
Microsoft has some programming applications that might help

Steps to actually install it when you have it installed:
1. Go to Control panel Printer and fax
2. Add Printer select local printer attached then manual
3. In the port option select Document image printer writer port
4. Install a generic text only printer.
5. Right-click on the generic text/only printer driver and select properties.
6. Click on ports and select "Microsoft office document imaging driver port".
7. Click on the advanced tab and change the driver to Microsoft office document image writer.
8. Click on apply and OK.
