Yea, that's what I'm used to seeing. This client is using some type of dumb terminal to get their connection to the TS. Apparently there's no option to select a specific resolution.
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI have a client that's connecting to a Windows 2003 terminal server using a Wyse terminal. This client tells me that they are unable to change the resolution once connected...I've checked the net and it sounds like you shouldn't be able to change the reso in a terminal session, and that it must be done before the RDP connection is made. However, I've brought this up to her and was told that they CAN change the resolution if they connect to another TS.
I've checked the group policies, terminal server config, and I can't seem to figure out how to fix this. I figured I'd run it by the folks here at EE.
Thanks
Jake

Jsavage66, I'm 100% postive that it is IMPOSSIBLE to change the resolution of an RDP session to a native 2003 terminal server once connected.
The only way to do that is by adding Citrix to it and using ICA. RDP has no support for this. So maybe the 'other' server is a Citrix?
Also if you just disconnect the session (no logoff) and then reconnect, the resolution can be changed between connections by picking up the disconnected session again with another setting in RDP. All applications will stay open (if the reconnect option is enabled). Maybe that's what they meant?

Not sure on the client software being used, but the vanilla 'mstsc' allows you to select what size screen you want by selecting the options>> button prior to connection.
