How can I stop this virus? I've install all the Microsoft critial updates and it still won't stop it.

Have you run anti-virus?
If you don't have anti-virus, AVG is a good free one: www.grisoft.com
(& May be best to run the anti-virus in sfe mode )

OR, I just found free removal utility:

--> Look for "parite.b" on this page for info & the tool to remove it

May be of use as it gives you all the information about this 'nasty' and where to look for it if you fancy removing this manaually.

First rule with this type of thing is to disconnect infected systems from network, and cleanse them! You need to have removed the worm completely, otherwise on restart, it will be re-infected. Most antivirus software should be able to do this.

Obviously, your system should be fully up to date and patched, and the same with whatever antivirus software you are using. This worm spreads through shares, so all shares *must* be password protected, and preferably remove any shares that you don't need.

Let's look at your hijackthis log.

Please download HijackThis 1.99.1
http://www.cyberanswers.org/forum/uploads/HijackThis1991.exe
Open Hijackthis, click "Do a system scan and save a logfile" don't fix anything yet.

Then go to the below link and login using your Experts-Exchange username and password.

Click on "Expert Area" tab

"Browse" your pc to the location of your Hijackthis log and click "Upload"
