Here`s the scenario.I`m trying to install xp pro on a pc.Boot from cd the blue xp setup screens appears, i select the partition, setup copies over the files and the pc restart.Everything is fine until here.the next step would be for the installation screen to appear and tell me that there is 39 minutes remaining for the installation.Only that does not happen.The xp startup screen appears with the windows logo and the progress bar that runs just once.and then the screen goes blank and the green light on the monitor goes orange and then everything stays like that.
I tried other ram,ide cables xp cd`s
can someone pleae help me?

A little known secret.
Try pressing F5 ......instead of F6 when setup is first starting. This tells setup to bypass hardware compatibility checks for the duration of the setup process.
Also, put your BIOS on defaults, in case something was messed with.
If you have multiple video cards, remove one of them during the first setup. Use the onboard card as priority.
PS: if the Windows XP disc is a disc that someone burned for you, tell them to allow higher directory depth support "Joilet", and 256 character filenames the next time they burn xp.
Hi,
Just try to run the knoppix (this is a single CD Linux distro) that it will run from a single cd. If booting stalls with this too you will need to replace our motherboard : )

Have you tried rebooting from CD again and reinstall XP, also reformatting the hard drive if it's a clean installation. If you have data on it, then skip the formatting process.
