The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Domain Problem

Asked by hanisaif in Operating Systems Miscellaneous

Tags: , ,

I have a Windows 2003 Domain with 1 Parent Domain [i.e. abc.com] & two Child Domains [i.e. def.abc.com & ghi.abc.com], there is a trust between the domains, I can see the trusts in the Active Directory Domains & Trusts; every domain has;
     --   2 Domain Controllers
     --   1 Exchange Server
the problems I am going to mention in this post were identified lately when I tried to move user mailbox on Exchange Server in the ghi.abc.com to either the Exchange Server of the def.abc.com or the Exchange Server of the abc.com; the Exchange Move Mailbox Task ended with the following error;

>>Unable to move mailbox 'Basher Abu. AlBaghi'.
Error: The Microsoft Exchange Server computer is not available.  Either there are network problems or the Microsoft Exchange Server computer is down for maintenance.
The MAPI provider failed.
Microsoft Exchange Server Information Store
ID no: 8004011d-0526-00000000 <<

the resolution to this problem that Microsoft suggests is in the following link;

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/274534

I have done what is mentioned in this article; but still the problem remains; but while troubleshooting this problem I also identified the following problem;

     --   While I am logged onto the Domain Controller or the Exchange Server of the def.abc.com; using the Active Directory Snap-in I cannot connect to the ghi.abc.com, but I can connect to the abc.com domain.
     --   If I open the Active Directory Domains & Trusts snap-in on the server for the def.abc.com, I can see the entry for the trust between all the 3 domains, but while from the same server if I try to goto the Properties of the ghi.abc.com domain, it gives me the following error;

>>This computer was not able to set up a secure session with a domain controller in domain ghi.abc.om due to the following:
There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request.
This may lead to authentication problems. Make sure that this computer is connected to the network. If the problem persists, please contact your domain administrator.

ADDITIONAL INFO
If this computer is a domain controller for the specified domain, it sets up the secure session to the primary domain controller emulator in the specified domain. Otherwise, this computer sets up the secure session to any domain controller in the specified domain.<<

     --   Also in the Active Directory Sites & services; I can see the Domain Controllers of all the three domains, I can also see the Exchange Servers for the abc.com & ghi.abc.com domain but cannot see the Exchange Server for the def.abc.com; plus when I take the Properties of the Exchange Server entry for the domain ghi.abc.com in the Active Directory Sites & Services snap-in; I cannot see any information about the Computer or the Domain in the Properties dialogue box.

     --   The final issue as I know until now is that we have Distribution Groups defined in the Active Directory for group emailing, but we have controlled access to the users as to who should be able to send to these groups, now if I want to modify the members of a particular group on the Exchange Server for def.abc.com, it gives me the following error message;

>>Microsoft Active Directory - Exchange Extension
A referral was returned from the server
Facility : LDAP Provider
ID no : 8007202b
Microsoft Active Directory - Exchange Extension<<
