The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. PC Lockup Windows XP

My Computer has been freezing solidly a couple of times a day for over two weeks now. While playing world of Warcraft the computer will stop responding, i cannot alt-tab, cannot alt-ctrl-del, the HDD light goes off and intermittently the monitor stops getting input from the video card, my speakers also repeat the last sound heard or squeal randomly. At First i assumed it was World of Warcraft, but this morning it froze up while just running windows and playing music with Windows Media player 10.
Once i've pressed the reset button (the only way to recover from the crash) and log back into windows, there is no report in the systems error that windows has crashed, and no minidump log.
running Windows XP with SP2
Hardware:
Gigabyte K8NS-Pro motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ CPU
1gb Geil 400mhz DDR RAM (2 sticks)
Using onboard motherboard sound (have already removed a creative audigy in suspicion it was locking up the pc)
Radeon 9600 Pro 256mb graphics card

Things i've tried so far:
selective start up
Removing the sound card
Removing a 3rd stick of ram
moving the RAM between slots
chk dsk on my hdd
virus scan, spyware scan
new chipset drivers for my motherboard
new video card drivers
defrag of HDD
windows update
registry repair tools

any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated, im at my wits end trying to figure this outStart Free Trial
