The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Roaming Profiles

Operating System=Windows 2003 Enterprise Server

My company recently expanded, and finally purchased a high end server.  At the old place we had a p2p network, so there was no central point to store data (used external hard drives, was a real pain to backup data).  Now I've setup user accounts and profiles.  My question is how should I go about setting up the profiles.  I'm able to setup a user profile no problem.  When I setup roaming profiles I can't access the folder on the server it's giving me access is denied when I click on the folder for their profile. I setup the user roaming profile accounts like this with \\server1\profiles$\%username%  on the user profile path.  Why it's not giving me access to the folder I don't understand, should I setup the folder first and give it permissions instead of having %username%?  This is killing me because I want to finish the server and move onto other issues.  I can't delete the folder to troubleshoot I have to format the d drive.  obviously when I get this situated I will not be able to do that.

I have to transfer their data on the local pcs to the server.  Should I setup a generic roaming profile, or let them keep their profiles from their local pcs.   I figured I would run into trouble if I kept their profiles from their local computer because they have information in my documents that is in the gigs worth.  I'm in the process of transferring all their information onto the server.(as we speak).  All users have full access on their pcs right now.Start Free Trial
