Extended Display using VMware

I utilize remote access via three gotomypc accounts. I would like to avoid losing these machines to office use by consolidating access to one machine running VMware with XP as OS on the virtual machines..  Seems to be a logical approach but I cannot find out if the VMware set-up will retain extended desktop capabilities. So.... question is ....
Can I use VMware and still retain extended display capabilities? If so, how.

What do you mean by "extended desktop capabilities"?  if you mean can you still use gotomypc, or remote dedsktop, etc... then YES, you sure can.  In fact you can also grab the console using vmware's manager.

Sorry, I was not specific enough.

I want to use gotomypc to access the virtual machine on VMware AND be able to view two monitors at the same time. When using gotomypc with a standalone machine equipped with dual montior capability, I can view the two monitors on my end.

When using dual monitors it is possible to have both of them be the same (Dual or Clone) or be different which is referred to as an Extended monitor.

So.... can I make VMware imitate the dual monitor video card on the standalone machine and see that effect using gotomypc?

There is no way to add a second virtual display in vmware - at least none that I've been able to find.  You can add all kinds of additional hardware - but that unfortunately isn't one of them.

You can download a free evaluation of vmware workstation 6 - you might want to download it and give it a try...

Another product that I've seen suggested is maxivista from http://www.maxivista.com/, but I've never personally used it or know anyone that has.

It doesn't look like MS Virtual PC 2007 supports it either (I just tried it - no luck).

I looked a little further in to maxivista and basically it lets you run multiple PCs and extend the desktop across them.  Not quite what you wanted.

Sounds like you're out of luck

"Note: VMware Workstation does not support running virtual machines in full screen mode on dual-monitor systems."

If you're looking to extend multiple pcs with 1 monitor try synergy.
