Why Vista clients are not getting updates?

Asked by fbmeit in Operating Systems Miscellaneous, Microsoft Operating Systems, Windows Vista

I'm using WSUS 3.0. Everything works fine with XP, recieving updates, installing etc.

My problem starts here:

I've now asked WSUS to approve vista updates aswell, But my vista machines is telling me the following:

"new updates available"

But when i click on it the "check updates" is greyed out and also there is no where for me to click to install updates as the updates cannot be seen and it also says "some settings are managed by your system administrator" you recieve updates: managed by your system administrator.

I have in the wsus console in the updates section approved for the vista updates to be installed. it is to install in the group (IT) and the vista machines are all in the IT group. The windows xp machines are all in the same IT group and they can recieve and install updates fine. Just vista. Has anyone seen this problem before please?

In the wsus console i can see  that the status of updates is "downloaded"

Updates are being scheduled for Tuesday at 1pm even though the GPO says to allow me to choose when to install.

If I click on the system tray icon I have the Windows Update window appear. It says that "Some settings are managed by your system Administrator." I can look at the update history but not what is waiting to be installed.

Is there a new GPO template that I need to install?Start Free Trial
