Default "Cluster Group" properties

Windows 2003 SP2 Cluster Administrator question:

This is a basic 2 node cluster. Node 1 is the active node....Node 2 is the passive node. It seems Node 1 is not at all "talking" to node 2. When we set up a share resource it can be seen on the public intranet share point both on Node 1 and under the general cluster name we have given our overall cluster setup.

Under Groups within the Cluster Administrator we have not set up any additional groups besides the default "Cluster Group" that appears automatically.
Is it better practice to set up a custom group?

More importantly to address the situation of Node2 not even seeing that Node1 exists (or visa versa)....if we go with using the default Cluster Group....looking at the properties if I right click on Cluster Group....should there be something in the Preferred owners for Cluster Group? Should that be both Node1 and node2 inside that box? Just node2? Could this be the misconfiguration that's causing Node2 to not see any share that's created as a resource on Node 1?

All other settings look fine....Node 2 is showing as up and running. I have cross compared each Cluster Manager screen between node 1 and node 2 and cannot see anything that is off if I go by the documentation.
