AFAIK, There is no such software for this purpose.

The way people do it is:

Download any Screen cap software for your phone.
1. Set it to take snapshots every few seconds or the way you want.
2. Make an animated GIF from these screenshots.

Recording a 3G call would require plenty of memory usage in your phone, so for know I don't think it would appropriate to develop such software.

Thanks experts!

aman0711: Yes. i have searched screen captures as well. Do you have a better idea about a good free screen capture software or software to be evaluate?. This should able to run with s60 - 3rd edition phones, and should have nothing to do with computer. I need to know such software exists so i can capture the video call as image sequence in real time. Please give your feedback

JackOfPH:
Yes, it is a valid point. But considering modern phones, they at least support up to 2 Gb memory and considering the (low) resolution of the video call still it make sense to build a good video call record software. (iPhone have)  unfortunately I didn't found any for s60 OS.

Hope at least i can find a good screen capture software to record the video calls as image stream in real time.

Hi MaduKp,

Here are few good screen cap softwares:

Do remember, its a memory intensive operation. you need an external mem card for this.

A free site to get symbian stuff (I am sure you already know tons of these):

Thanks aman0711:

But

http://wareseeker.com/Business-Finance/mobiola-screen-capture-symbian-s60v3-2.6.4.zip/3b564f91f3 is not helpful. This is Mobia Screen Capture software which already i had evaluated before. This needed interaction with PC.

The link http://my-symbian.com/s60/software/applications.php?name=Yew_Snap&fldAuto=729&faq=2
About Yew Snap. It's seems to be  supported up to Symbian OS Series 60 1st & 2nd Edition and it doesnt have an evaluation / trial period.

The third link also, i have gone before but didn't found any useful information.

However i am really appreciate your effort and i am sure it will not be a waste.

Please give me some more details about good standalone screen capture software for S60 - 3rd edition OS, which should have nothing to do with PC.

Please consider the memory consumption is not a problem.

Hi Madukp,

I tried a lot bro, but there arent many screen capture s/ws built specifically for S60 V3.0. and most of them use PC interfacing.

I found this one as well, give it a shot, if you haven't already

Thanks aman0711:
Still the both software Screen Capture 1.74 and  ALON Screen Capture 1.10 failed in s60 (v3) phones.

I wonder are we still in primitive age in phone software industry! I also failed to find out a solid solution for my question.

I would like to keep this question open for reasonable time. Please get back if you found a good solution. How ever your effort /contribution is already noted and it will be appreciated  when the question close

I will surely look into it. I am kind of surprised with the fact that,  Mobile software development is at its peak right now and we still dont have a single s/w that could record video calls.
One reason could be, only less than 3% of total 3G subscribers use Video Calling via handset.

by: MaduKpPosted on 2009-10-07 at 09:20:39ID: 25517098

Agreed with that. relatively less percentage is using 3G calls, and it's make considerably high cost (in our countries, not sure about other countries though)

But the software industry should be state of art. I found iphone has software capability on recording 3G. now i really getting disappointing with smart phones.

My point of view is , cellphones are gradually becoming small computers. The leading phone companies should consider about the software side too. unfortunately software side is not up to satisfactory standard. this makes people to depend on more 3rd party solutions , taking high risks and pay extra money.

You are right about that. One thing that is really surprising is to see the fact how quickly iPhone got all these applications. They have an official count of 75000 apps for iPhone.

BB and other smart phones clearly lag way behind in this.

I remember some 5-6 years back , when it was Symbian boom time, we used to get almost any desired app. Now thoese days are gone, now its either iPhone or you are out of luck.

by: MaduKpPosted on 2009-10-19 at 20:44:53ID: 25610932

You are quite right. My next option definitely will be iPhone :)
