by: awawadaPosted on 2009-11-01 at 09:56:48ID: 25714590

After each Bluescreen (BSOD) a mini.dmp will be created automatically. It will be saved under C:\Windows\Minidump . Post all or some damps change the extension first to .txt from .dmp other vice you cant upload it here.

Hi Merlin,
From your original post your machine won't start in any mode whatsoever?
Have you tried safe mode with command prompt?

by: snazyPosted on 2009-11-01 at 14:30:46ID: 25715912

Use the original disc to run Repair my computer option. It will ask you for a keyboard layout and then your username and password.A menu will be loaded and one of the options is System Restore. Do a system restore to when you were able to boot and hopefully you will be able to load Windows. Then do the virus scans.

by: snazyPosted on 2009-11-01 at 14:38:30ID: 25715943

Oops. sorry, I was thinking about Vista, but you could still use the Recovery Console from the XP cd to repair, but I wouldnt recommend it. You can actually use it to get to a command prompt and restore the system files, etc

Download Ubcd4win -it will take a while to create but it has a system restore feature builtin(regreswiz) and restore machine back a week. If it works try running scanners:

Malwarebytes http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-download.php
Nod online scan http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/

Link for Ubcd4win:

On the BSOD you are getting, is there any file displayed that maybe causing the error, usually ending on *.dll, *.sys...?

by: merlin89Posted on 2009-11-03 at 00:11:04ID: 25726856

I downloaded and built butdidn't find the system restore feature builtin(regreswiz) will try again tonight. i ran Avast, superantispyware and spybot from it they found stuff but still when I boot I get the same problem. from the BSOD i get
*** STOP: 0x000000&E (0xc0000005, 0x87286AD2, 0xF&AC5298, 0xF7AC4F94). There is no mention of of any *.ddl or *.sys. However when I trie to boot into safe mode it does all the multidisk loading the says 'Press ESC to cancel loading SPTD.sys' it then pauses and gives me BSOD'.......is this the key?
Also many thanks for your help much appreciated!!!!

I just skimmed through this post and didnt see an error after you said you were going to try and get one from work...what error are you getting when you try to boot to cd?

by: snazyPosted on 2009-11-03 at 09:35:55ID: 25731383

Hi, the sptd.sys is not a system file. It could be installed with an drive emilation sofware like Daemon Tools or Alcochol, PowerIso, etc. If it is not malware, it should be located in: C:\Windows\System32\drivers
It is worth a try deleting it using the recovery console

by: MicrosoftSavvyPosted on 2009-11-03 at 09:44:03ID: 25731474

there are alot of viruses that attach them selves to drivers so when they ar deleted you get BSOD your best bet is new install in my opion due to the problesm you are going to have later

by: merlin89Posted on 2009-11-03 at 11:26:43ID: 25732516

I am thinking you got a bad ifection.  you might just want to back it all up and start over if you need the cd let me know

by: snazyPosted on 2009-11-03 at 13:55:36ID: 25734226

Just to clarify, have you tried to go to the F8 menu and select Safe mode with command prompt? A system restore can be run from there and is worth a try. All you need to do in command prompt is to go windows\system32\retore\rstrui.exe
Unfortunately, this can not be run from recovery console.

by: merlin89Posted on 2009-11-04 at 05:03:55ID: 25738836

cannot boot in any mode at all sorry. I have now booted Ubcd4win from the USB as I'm able to copy files and write files to/from and will install some exe's that will allow some malware people to have a look at the log see if that helps!
