Asked by: cfcheepa

I found this article here, that suggests that this is a problem with these particular printers and USB printing (at least with the driver)  http://www.rockryno.com/point-of-sale/Epson-Tm-T88IV-USB-Crashing-35557-.htm

(excript from the webpage: One other alternative is to try the Windows drivers. I have been using them for several years with the TM88's. I have no issues. The only thing is that you have to change receipt templates from the default fonts (true type?) to printer built-in fonts to eliminate slow printing.   )

another suggested option would be to connect to the printer via parallel or serial.

Our POS pc's haven't crashed for over a week since we disabled the sleep/power options in the USB device driver settings as follows:

1.       Right-click the "My Computer" icon on your desktop. Select "Properties" from the menu options.
2.       Click the "Hardware" tab in the screen that is displayed. At the bottom of this window, click the "Device Manager" button.
3.       Click the "USB Device" from the list of hardware devices on your computer. This expands the tree that lists a selection of drivers. Double-click the "USB Root Hub" device. This opens a new window.
4.       Click the "Power Management" tab. This is where any power options are changed for the corresponding USB port. Uncheck the box that is labeled "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." Click "Ok" to save changes.
5.       Do the same for any other "USB Root Hub" devices listed in Device Manager. Once the settings are completed, close the "Properties" window.
